The terms "low" and "high" turrets are all collector's jargon. The front turret is 4mm taller as a result of this simplification. This simplification was almost certainly done to produce a more cost-effective, easier-to-manufacture sniper system. In late 1943, the low turret's front base and front scope ring were modified, resulting in the high turret. The Zf.39 was the name given to this new sniper system. The turret system was the first specifically designed scope mounting system for the K98k. ![]() This program resulted in the turret sniper. In 1939, the OKW allegedly issued a directive to begin a sniper program. ![]() A small part of this was the limited issue of telescopic-equipped rifles, mostly left over from World War I. ![]() This was hugely expanded after the NSDAP came to power in 1933. Immediately after World War I ended, Germany began a clandestine system of rearmament called ‘Aufrüstung’, quietly flouting the restrictions placed on it by the Allies at Versailles in 1919. This scope was used by the Germans in WWII. The sniper scope can is made for the model Zf. The can bears two different markings, “ JVB” and a German Waffenamt to give it a more authentic WWII feeling to it. It holds the paint color of the Afrika Korps, and the paint has just some signs of wear to it. Only one available: This high quality reproduction of the German WWII 98k Mauser turret sniper scope can is in good condition. ![]()
